textiles, tapestries, and lace. A large group of Marjorie Merriweather
Post's dresses are also included that represent a unique record
of late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century costume. Due to
the delicate nature of these objects, most of the collection is
stored under archival conditions. However, the web provides viewers
an opportunity to view some of these fragile objects even while
the museum continues to preserve them.
