rom her early collecting years, Marjorie Merriweather Post's affinity
for ceramics was patent. By the time she purchased Hillwood in 1955,
her collection of porcelains was so vast that, in order to showcase
it to its best advantages, it required many vitrines built throughout
the mansion. In addition, two foyers were specifically designed
to receive some of her most outstanding examples of Russian and
French porcelains.
